2 dead, 16 injured as bus overturns in Jammu’s Akhnoor; second bus accident in the region | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Two people were killed and 16 others were injured when a bus overturned near Kaleeth village in the Akhnoor sub-division of Jammu on Sunday evening, according to police reports. The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Police identified the deceased as Kewal Kumar and V Bhagat, who died at the scene. The injured passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, with three of them later being referred to Government Medical College Hospital for specialized care.
This marks the second major accident in the Akhnoor area within a span of four days. On May 30, a bus carrying pilgrims plunged into a 150-foot gorge at Tungi-Morh, resulting in the loss of 22 lives and injuries to 57 others.
