NEW DELHI: Two policemen from Jagargunda police station were injured in a Maoist attack during a weekly market in Sukma, authorities reported on Sunday.
The injured personnel are currently receiving first aid, and security forces have initiated an intensive search operation in the area to track down the attackers, according to Sukma Police.
The incident follows recent Maoist-related violence in Chhattisgarh, including the killing of a 35-year-old man, Dinesh Pujar, in Bijapur district on Wednesday, allegedly on suspicion of being a police informer.
Earlier, Dantewada police reported that 38 Maoist cadres were killed in an encounter near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border in the forests of Abujhmad.
Further updates on the situation in Sukma are awaited.
