BHOPAL: Nine children aged 10 to 14 years died and four others were injured after a mud wall collapsed in the Shahpur area of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh.
The incident occurred at 10 a.m. near the Hardaul Temple, where people were making earthen Shivlings as part of activities during the month of Sawan.
Due to it being Sunday, many children had gathered to make Shivlings when the adjacent 50-year-old wall collapsed.
Rescue efforts involved using JCB machines to remove debris and retrieve the bodies and injured children.
Rahli MLA and former minister Gopal Bhargava arrived at the scene to oversee the rescue operations.
Shivling-making and Bhagwat Katha activities were being organized at the Hardaul Temple in Shahpur. During the month of Sawan, people start making Shivlings from morning onwards, according to the police.
The collapsed wall was located within the temple premises, where the children were sitting and making Shivlings.
