JAMMU: Security forces killed three terrorists in a gunfight in Gandoh-Bhaderwah sector of J&K’s Doda district Wednesday morning, with official sources hailing this as an encouraging outcome of multi-layered search operations the past fortnight in the hilly, forested terrain of Jammu region following four attacks on June 9, 11 and 12.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint op of J&K police and security forces was launched.Contact was established with terrorists and a gunfight followed. Three terrorists were gunned down,” said a police spokesperson.
The slain terrorists haven’t been identified yet. As per the officials, the search operation is still underway in the area and security forces also have used drones and a helicopter to have aerial surveillance in the area.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone Anand Jain confirmed the neutralizing of three heavily armed terrorists during an encounter in a village of Gandoh of Doda district today.
“Two more terrorists have been neutralized in an ongoing joint operation in the Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of district Doda. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession,” ADGP Jammu said in a post on X.
Earlier ADGP Jain who personally was on the spot along with DIG Doda and SSP Doda has confirmed killing of one ultra and said, “One terrorist has been gunned down.”
The security forces have also recovered arms and ammunition, including a US-made M4 rifle, recovered from their possession.
The offensive is ongoing as more terrorists could be hiding in the area. People have been restricted from approaching the site to prevent rumor mongering, circulating unsubstantiated news, and revealing the positions of security forces.
SDM Arun Kumar Badyal warned that the circulation of fake news on social media will be dealt with firmly.
As per official sources said that a SOG jawan of J&K Police namely Aashiq Hussain Injured who was shifted to GMC Doda where he stated to be stable -has only a bullet injuries in right leg.
About the today’s operation, White Knight Corps @Whiteknight_IA today morning wrote on X, “Op Lagor- Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation of #IndianArmy with #JKP was launched in the Gandoh, #Bhaderwah Sector.
“Contact has been established with the terrorists and firefight is in progress.”
Here it also needs to be mentioned that aftermath the twin attacks in Doda earlier this month, the security forces heightened their anti-terrorist operations and have released sketches of terrorists and also announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakhs each for four Pakistani terrorists believed to be operating in the district.
Police also have arrested three persons in this connection who are being questioned for allegedly providing logistic help to terrorist hiding in the area.
Meanwhile Northern Army Commander (NAC) Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district and reviewed the security situation of the region.
“The Army Commander, accompanied by GoC of White Knight Corps and Romeo Force visited Reasi to review the security situation, Northern Command said on X.
It said, “He was briefed on the prevailing security situation and the actions of the security forces.”
Recently in a spurt in the terror activities in Jammu Region, the terrorists have struck at four places in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts of J&K in four days i.e. June 9, June 11 and June 12, killing nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan and leaving seven security personnel and several others injured while two Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Saida Suhal village in Hiranagar of Kathua district on June 12.
Subsequently the security forces have launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area since the twin attack in Doda-Bhderwah sector and also in Reasi- Rajouri forest axis and in Kathua district.
