NEW DELHI: India’s new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed his gratitude towards his fans and well-wishers for their immense support and affection. He acknowledged that taking on the mantle of captaincy comes with a great deal of responsibility, but it also fills him with excitement and enthusiasm.
“Thank you so much for outpouring love, support and best wishes from you.Last few weeks have been nothing short of a dream and I am truly grateful. Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm. I hope to keep receiving your support and blessings. All fame reaches God, God is great,” Surya posted on Instagram.

Suryakumar has been named India’s T20I captain after Rohit Sharma quit the shortest format following last month’s World Cup triumph.
The 33-year-old Suryakumar has been selected to captain a 15-member Indian T20 team for a series of three matches in Sri Lanka. The first game is scheduled to take place on July 27 in Pallekele.

According to reports, Suryakumar, known for his aggressive batting style in the middle order and his reliability in the T20 format, was the primary pick for the new head coach, Gautam Gambhir.
Suryakumar, who previously captained Mumbai in domestic cricket, last year led India to a 4-1 T20 series win over Australia and followed it up with a 1-1 result in South Africa.
