Passenger plane crashes in Brazil’s Sao Paulo hitting multiple houses: What we know so far – Times of India



A passenger plane carrying 62 people has crashed on the outskirts of São Paulo, Brazil, according to the country’s Civil Defense, CNN Brasil reports, hitting multiple houses. According to data on Flightradar24, the Voepass plane left Cascavel and was en route to São Paulo when it lost signal shortly before 1:30 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. ET).
Dramatic social media videos of the crash showed the plane spiraling out of the sky.Another video, shared by CNN Brasil, showed the destroyed aircraft in flames on the ground.
The local firefighters corps confirmed that the plane fell in the city of Vinhedo, but did not offer more details.
Brazil’s TV GloboNews showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke coming out of an apparent plane fuselage. Additional footage on GloboNews showed a plane drifting downward vertically, spiraling as it fell.

Brazil’s airport authority Infraero did not immediately confirm the information after a request from The Associated Press. No local airlines immediately reported one of their planes to be missing.
