“In the previous years, investments up to $5 billion have been made by Malaysia in India… Today, we have decided that we will elevate our cooperation to the level of ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’.We believe that there still lies a lot of scope and potential for both the countries in terms of economic cooperation,” said PM Modi while addressing the press with the Malaysia PM giving details of the agreements and MOU’s signed by the two nations’ heads.

PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to Ibrahim as it was his first visit to India after becoming the prime minister of Malaysia. “After becoming the Prime Minister, this is Shri Anwar Ibrahim ji’s first visit to India. It’s an honour for me to host him during my third term. We are soon to complete the first decade of India-Malaysia Strategic Partnership. In the last 2 years, with cooperation of PM Anwar Ibrahim, our partnership has taken significant strides. Our bilateral trade has consistently been going forward, including the trade in Rupee and Ringgit,” said PM Modi.
PM Modi also supported Malyasia taking up the leadership of ASEAN. “Malaysia is an important partner for India in the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions. India prioritises ASEAN centrality. We agree on the timely delivery of the FTA commitments. For Malaysia’s presidency of ASEAN in 2025, India extends its full support,” said PM Modi.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim commenced his maiden three-day trip to India on Monday evening.
