Vedang Raina confesses his mental health got affected while shooting for 'Jigra' co-starring Alia Bhatt: 'I realised it's not going to work like this'

Vedang Raina made his debut with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’ which released on OTT. However, now it’s time for his theatrical debut with ‘Jigra‘ co-starring Alia Bhatt. Vedang plays Alia’s brother in the film. The trailer which was released recently is packed with emotions, actions and does stir a chord in our hearts. The trailer depicts that Alia’s character is ready to go to any legnth to save his brother from jail who is there after being accused of involvement in a drugs scandal. In a recent interview, Vedang admitted that his mental health was affected when he was shooting for the film.
He spoke about his self-imposed process to get into this serious, emotional zone of the character during the film, which affected him terribly. Thus, he decided to change his process. Vedang said during a chat with Man’s World, “Alia [Bhatt] would be in the scene, hit all the right notes with precision and get out of the character as soon as she hears ‘cut’. But I couldn’t, it is not easy for me to come in and out of character. It did impact my mental health a bit.”
He added, “On the very first day, I was to shoot a rather emotionally intense scene, and I shut myself in my vanity, put the lights off, switched off my phone, and told people to just leave me alone—I sat there listening to my music. Now, as luck would have it, the shot was supposed to happen at 3pm but got delayed and we started rolling around 8 pm. So, I was in that self-imposed solitary confinement for about 8 long hours, and it really started impacting me.”
Thus, Vedang revealed how he changed his ways and process. “Even when the scenes were done, I couldn’t get out of that zone for 2/3 hours. I realised that it is not going to work like this, and after that I have decided not to put myself through such a thing… it is not worth it and I believe there are other ways to access that emotion, I just need to find which one works for me the best,” said the actor.
‘Jigra’ directed by Vasan Bala is said to release in cinemas on October 11.
