NEW DELHI: The Indian team in Australia had some relief on Sunday as KL Rahul returned to practice after previously getting hit on the elbow.
Rahul had copped a blow on the elbow on Friday during a simulation match and had left the field.
The 32-year-old missed the training on Saturday which raised concerns over the seriousness of Rahul’s injury.
However, on Sunday, Rahul returned to practice and batted for almost an hour at the centre wicket. He reportedly faced the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj and then had a net session with the old and new balls.
The Rahul returns comes as a great news for the Indian team ahead of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth from November 22 after Shubman Gill fracturing his thumb on Saturday as is set to miss the first game.
In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Rahul is expected to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rahul had earlier lost his place in the team during their recent 3-0 home series loss to New Zealand after scoring 12 runs over two innings batting at number six in the Bengaluru Test.
The Indian Test team has been practising match simulations against a side comprising India A squad members and fringe players at the WACA ground.
