‘With folded hands’: Jailed J&K MP Engineer Rashid pleads for bail to attend Parliament session | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Member of Parliament from Jammu and Kashmir Engineer Rashid on Monday approached a Delhi court requesting interim bail in a terror-funding case to participate in the Parliamentary session.
Principal district and sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to submit their response by November 27.
Speaking virtually from Tihar Jail, Rashid said, “I have been elected by my people.I was not allowed to attend the last session. With folded hands I request you that I may be granted interim bail.”
In the course of the hearing, both the defence counsel and the NIA prosecutors collectively requested that the case remain with the present court rather than being transferred to another jurisdiction.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 27, when the court will consider arguments from both parties.
