Watch: Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka protest outside Parliament over Adani issue | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka protested outside the Parliament on Thursday demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the Gautam Adani-indictment issue.
“…Modi ji can’t get Adani ji investigated because if he does that, he would be getting himself investigated…Modi aur Adani ek hain. Do nahi hain, ek hain ,” the leader of opposition said.

The opposition leaders wore jackets saying: “Modi Adani ek hain safe hain” voicing their demand for a thorough investigation into the Adani issue. This comes amidst continuous disruption of Parliament winter sessions due to disagreements between the opposition and the House Speakers over discussion on several issues including Adani, Manipur and Sambhal among others.
The leaders also demanded the Prime Minister to attend the House sessions. They also held a protest march outside the Parliament.

This comes a day after Rahul Gandhi was stopped by the Yogi Adityanath government in UP from visiting Sambhal.
“The police stopped us from going to Sambhal. Being the leader of the opposition, it is my right and duty to go there. Yet I was stopped. I am ready to go alone, but they did not agree to that either. This is against the Constitution. Why is the BJP scared – why is it using the police to hide its failures? Why is it suppressing the message of truth and brotherhood?” he had said in a post on X.
The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the Adani Group and the government following charges brought by the US Department of Justice. Gautam Adani, the chairman of the ports-to-energy conglomerate, his nephew Sagar, and another key executive are accused of being involved in a scheme to pay bribes totaling $265 million to Indian officials.
The bribes were allegedly intended to secure contracts for supplying solar electricity, which would generate a $2 billion profit over a 20-year period. Adani Group has denied all the charges terming them as “baseless.”
