What is the eligibility criteria?
The eligibility criteria for the award require applicants to be regular faculty members of colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, or polytechnics in India. They must possess a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Additionally, nominees should not exceed 55 years of age at the time of the application deadline. Individuals serving as Vice-Chancellors, Directors, or Principals, whether in regular or officiating capacities, are ineligible to apply. However, former holders of these positions who are under 55 years of age and currently in active service remain eligible for consideration.
What is the nomination process?
The nomination procedure allows for self-nomination on an individual basis. Additionally, individuals who have served as Vice-Chancellors, Directors, Principals, Faculty Members, or colleagues within the same university, institute, college, or polytechnic where the nominee is currently employed in a regular capacity may also nominate candidates.
Former nominees or nominations are eligible for re-nomination, encouraging continuity and recognition of ongoing contributions.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education has opened applications for the National Award to Teachers 2024. Nominations can be submitted on the official portal, nat.aicte-india.org, until June 20, 2024. In a tweet on the social media platform X, the submissions must follow the prescribed format on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal awards.gov.in, using a system-generated OTP.Email notifications will be sent to the institution heads.
