Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his support for Hardik Pandya, who has been struggling recently, predicting that Pandya will do “something really special” for Team India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, starting June 2 in the West Indies and USA. Yuvraj emphasized the importance of Pandya’s fitness and bowling for the team’s success in the tournament.
As the ambassador of the T20 World Cup, Yuvraj discussed the Indian team’s prospects.India have announced a strong 15-member squad led by Rohit Sharma, along with four travelling reserves, for T20I cricket’s premier event. The team aims to capture their second T20 World Cup title, following their triumph in the inaugural 2007 edition.

Yuvraj, a key player in that victorious 2007 team, is eager to see India lift the trophy again.
Despite showing glimpses of regaining his bowling form in the IPL, Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, had a below-par batting performance, scoring only 216 runs in 14 matches. This slump comes after his return from a prolonged injury layoff since he was forced to leave midway through the ODI World Cup late last year.
Nevertheless, Yuvraj is steadfast in his belief that Pandya will shine in the tournament, expressing confidence that the all-rounder will deliver something extraordinary.
“Well, the good thing is that the selection has been made. (BCCI selection committee sees) how players have performed in international cricket and then they look at IPL form, not just the IPL form,” Yuvraj said, as quoted by ICC.
“Because if you look at the IPL form, Hardik has not done well. Looking at his background for India, what he’s done for India, it is important that he is in the squad. I think his bowling is going to be important, and his fitness is going to be important. And I think he might do something really special in this World Cup,” Yuvraj added.
