Major blast at explosives factory in Chhattisgarh, many feared dead | Raipur News – Times of India



Raipur: Several feared dead, and at least six laborers sustained injuries after a major blast occurred at the biggest explosives factory in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district on Saturday morning.
The number of casualties isn’t clear yet as the administration and police teams are rushing to the spot.
The factory Special Blast Limited is located in the Pirda region, about 60 kms away from district headquarters and about 30 kms from the state capital.
Speaking to TOI, Bemetara collector Ranbir Sharma said that he was on way to the spot of incident and said that as per the preliminary information six persons were reported injured.
He said that he will be available for further comments once he reaches and inspects the spot.
According to information the number of deaths might be in double digits.
The incident occurred when labourers were preparing to begin work for the day and a massive blast took place leaving a 20 feet crater on the ground. It’s suspected that many people are trapped under the debris.
