SP govt ensured uninterrupted power supply during Ramzan but not on Janmashtami: Amit Shah | India News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Union home minister Amit Shah took potshots at the Samajwadi Party over “power shortage” during its term in Uttar Pradesh and claimed that the “supply was uninterrupted during Ramzan but not on Janmashtami”.
Addressing a rally in Ballia in support of BJP candidate Neeraj Shekhar, Shah said, “Power was supplied selectively to eastern UP districts to appease the minority during the SP govt. Power supply was uninterrupted during Ramzan but not on Janmashtami. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is ensuring electricity for 18 hours in Uttar Pradesh.”
Seeking support for Neeraj Shekhar, Shah said that his victory would be a homage to his father and former prime minister Chandra Shekhar.
Later, Shah reached Sonbhadra to address another rally at the railway sports ground in Chopan.
Referring to firing on workers at a cement factory in Dalla in Sonbhadra in June 1991, Shah reminded the people that it was BJP govt, led by Kalyan Singh, which ensured that tribals got their dues.
Holding the Congress and SP responsible for encouraging corruption, he said that a third term for Modi was important as tribals would get ‘van adhikar patta’ (forest rights), a demand which no other govt could fulfil.
Highlighting the achievements of Jal Jivan mission, Shah said that the BJP govt ensured tap water supply to households of Mirzapur and Sonbhadra, which were among the driest regions of UP.
“When I visited this region in 2012-13, I realised how important it was to provide clean water to the families staying in this belt. A lot of families have already got tap connection and the remaining ones would get it within the next three years,” he said.
“Sonbhadra was never on the priority list of any govt and was always ignored. Villages in the ‘power capital’ remained in the dark during the nights. The Modi govt ensured power was provided to all communities,” he said.
“In this election, it will be the choice between electing ‘Ram bhakts’ or the ones who were responsible for opening fire on ‘Ram bhakts’,” he said.
