NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the incumbent party in Arunachal Pradesh, has taken an early lead in 30 assembly constituencies, as per the initial trends provided by the Election Commission of India website on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the National People’s Party (NPEP) is leading in eight seats.
The vote counting process for the 50 contested assembly seats in the state commenced at 6 am.
Prior to the elections, BJP had already secured victory in 10 seats unopposed, out of the total 60-member assembly. The assembly elections were conducted concurrently with the Lok Sabha polls during the first phase on
April 19.
Initial trends also indicate that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is ahead in three constituencies, while the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) and independent candidates are leading in two seats each. The Congress party is currently leading in one assembly seat in the state.
Despite the inclement weather conditions across Arunachal Pradesh, a large number of supporters from various political parties gathered near the counting centers to await the results.
