NEW DELHI: An Indian worker died after collapsing during maintenance activity on a major bridge in Maldives, the police said on Tuesday. This marks second worksite accident involving an Indian national since May.
As reported by Sun.mv, the worker collapsed while conducting repairs on the Sinamale’ Bridge on Monday night due to dizziness.
He was rushed to a private hospital in Hulhumale’, where hospital authorities confirmed his death upon arrival, according to the police.
On May 3, a 30-year-old Indian worker passed away after being injured in a dredging incident.
The Indian embassy in the Maldives estimated that the Indian expatriate community in the country is around 27,000. They are prominently employed in the health and education sectors, with a significant number also working in construction.
