Ajay Devgn began the year on a good note, as his first release of the year Shiataan, went on to become the highest grossing horror film of all time, with a box office collection of over Rs 148 crore. However, his next two releases Maidaan and Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha failed to find an audience. He had his eyes set on his next release Singham Again , directed by Rohit Shetty- a modern day retelling of Ramayan. But the film didn’t fail to connect with the audience, as it had crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in just 10 days, despite clashing with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 on Diwali.

Singham Again minted Rs 173 crore in its first week, and over its second weekend it added another Rs 33.50 crore, taking the 10 day total to Rs 206.50 crore. And with this, the film had already become the 4th biggest Hindi hit of the year, and over the next few days it will displace Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter as the 3rd biggest of the year. The Siddharth Anand directorial venture had minted Rs 212 crore at the box office.
However, the Ajay Devgn led film will have to struggle to become the second biggest hit of the year, as that spot has been taken by Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD which minted over Rs 293 in Hindi and across languages the film crossed over Rs 645 crore. And the biggest hit of the year still remains Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree with Rs 597.99 crore collection.
Also Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is closely trailing Singham Again, as it has collected Rs 199.50 crore in 10 days, and has become the 5th biggest hit of the year. So over the next few days, both films will be playing catching up with each other for 3rd and 4th rankin.
