NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union cabinet ministers to sought financial assistance from the centre based on the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 which was drafted when Telangana state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP chief, who is on a two-day visit to the national capital, also held talks with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal on state-specific issues.
Sources indicated that Naidu is scheduled to meet several other Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Health Minister J P Nadda.
Earlier on Wednesday, Naidu also released a white paper on the Amaravati project and alleged that it was impossible to put a number to the extent of damage done to the state by the previous govt by abandoning Amaravati.
Ahead of leaving for Delhi on Wednesday, Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a key partner in the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, asserted that he would discuss all issues with PM Modi.
“Not just Amaravati, all issues will be discussed,” he said after releasing a White Paper on Amaravati.
Naidu said rebuilding the state was the responsibility of everyone in the NDA. “Three parties contested together as NDA partners. We will explain to them and take the Centre’s help. Rebuilding of the state should start,” he said.
Stating that people gave 164 out of 175 Assembly seats to the NDA, Naidu said the alliance has to live up to people’s expectations. The TDP, which won 16 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats from the state, is the second biggest party in the NDA after the BJP.
