Anu Aggarwal recalls slapping Mehmood so hard that he started crying: He was my grandfather’s age… – Times of India

Veteran star Anu Aggarwal gained widespread recognition for her role in the 1990 blockbuster film ‘Aashiqui‘. However, despite her promising start in Bollywood, her acting career was short-lived.
The senior actress recently recalled a moment on the set of her film ‘Khal-Naaikaa‘ when she accidentally made veteran actor Mehmood cry after slapping him during a scene. In an interview with Lehren Retro, Anu Aggarwal explained that it was challenging for her to do so, as her character was a psycho, and slapping someone of Mehmood’s age, who is as old as her grandfather, was difficult.
Anu added that she had to mentally detach herself from her personality to perform the scene. However, when she slapped him, Mehmood actually started crying, leaving her feeling terrible. She immediately stopped the scene, hugged him, and apologized, to which Mehmood, still in tears, reassured her, saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Back in 1999, Anu’s life took a dramatic turn when she was involved in a severe car accident that left her in a coma for almost a month. The accident had a profound impact on her life, leading her to withdraw from the film industry. After her recovery, she shifted her focus towards spirituality and social work, embracing a simpler and more holistic lifestyle.
However, she has recently shared her desire to return to acting. Having voluntarily stepped away from the film industry nearly three decades ago, Anu Aggarwal is now actively searching for the perfect script to mark her comeback.
