NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s historic series win against Australia on their home turf has triggered an outpouring of jubilation and pride among Pakistani cricket fans and former players alike.
Securing a 2-1 victory in the three-match ODI series in Australia for the first time in over two decades, Pakistan’s performance has elevated spirits within their cricketing fraternity.
In a remarkable show of dominance, Pakistan’s pace attack spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah dismantled Australia’s batting lineup, with a mere 140 runs posted by the hosts—a total Pakistan chased with ease.
Pakistan’s former cricket icons took to social media to savour this long-awaited triumph.
Mohammad Hafeez shared a playful, tongue-in-cheek post on X, writing, “Aussie Aussie Aussie… Moye Moye Moye,” a twist on the iconic Aussie chant.

Rashid Latif, a former Pakistani captain, expressed his joy and congratulated the team and new white-ball skipper Mohammad Rizwan, saying, “Congratulations Rizwan and Co. Pakistan won the ODI series against Australia in Australia after 22 years.”

Wasim Akram, a legendary figure in Pakistan cricket, struck a more heartfelt tone.
In a post on X, he congratulated Team Pakistan, calling the victory “a big achievement”.
Akram, who commentated throughout the series, emphasized the impact this win would have on Pakistan’s cricket image, inspiring confidence in players and fans alike.
“Congratulations Team Pakistan …beating World ODI Champions in a series is a big achievement. Having witnessed and commentating on this series, I feel honoured. This win will give huge confidence to the players, to the new captain Rizwan, cricket board and, most importantly, to the fans. It will lift Pakistan’s cricket image hugely,” wrote the former Pakistani pacer.

Here are some other reactions to the historic result from the Pakistani cricketing fraternity.

This triumph, seen as a morale booster ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, has intensified excitement among Pakistani fans and amplified their anticipation.
Pakistan now gear up to face Australia in a three-match T20I series, kicking off on November 14 at The Gabba.
