Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique passed away on Saturday after being shot multiple times by unidentified assailants, Mumbai police confirmed. The attack took place near the office of his son, Zeeshan Siddique, in Bandra East. Baba Siddique, who sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition.
Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan, who were close to Baba Siddique, were seen arriving at the hospital. Sanjay was one of the first ones to visit the hospital, followed by Salman.
Officials have arrested two suspects, with one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana, while a third remains at large. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has vowed strict action, stating that no one should take the law into their hands.

Baba Siddique, a two-time BMC corporator, represented the Bandra West assembly constituency three times as a Congress leader and served as Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies. Earlier this year, he joined the NCP. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.
