Amidst political turmoil, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country, reportedly in an air force flight. According to the Flight radar website, the ‘AJAX1431’ that left Dhaka early Monday gained immense attention. “#1 is this C130 Hercules, widely suspected to be carrying the Prime Minister,” the online tracker wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In another post, it wrote “Flights to and from Dhaka are consistently featuring in our most tracked list today following the resignation and fleeing of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina”.
PM Hasina, the longest-tenured female head of the government resigned on Monday, ending 15 years in power. Her resignation came amidst thousands of protesters defying a military curfew.
Sheikh Hasina stays put in Delhi
Reportedly, she landed at Hindon airbase near Ghaziabad hours after fleeing Dhaka. She is likely to stay here for a few days before reaching the next destination. Hasina has relatives in London, the US as well as Singapore. But she has not yet zeroed in on any of the options. Her son Joy has said she will not return to Bangladesh.
According to sources, Hasina sought safe passage to India, a request immediately granted by New Delhi. IAF fighter jets provided cover to the C-130 aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force during its flight in India.
