Beant’s killer Jagtar Singh Tara acquitted in ’12 UAPA case | India News

JALANDHAR: One of former Punjab CM Beant Singh’s convicted assassins, Jagtar Singh Tara, was acquitted Thursday of waging war against the state in a 12-year-old case filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Kulbir Singh Barapind and two others had been acquitted in that case in 2014.
The court of additional sessions judge Dharam Paul Singla acquitted Tara on grounds of the prosecution failing to prove its case.
Tara, who was arrested in Thailand in 2010, had been accused of sending money to the co-accused and masterminding a conspiracy to wage war against the state.
