Singer Shaan recently interacted with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, where he talked about how Arijit Singh is an extremely grounded human being, just like his refreshing approach towards music.
Shaan said that he first ran into Arijit at an award ceremony around 2017-2018, when everyone was struck by the excitement around Arijit’s presence.
“Everyone was excited to see Arijit and when I asked who it was, they were all like, ‘Oh god, you don’t know him?’ It was refreshing and amazing that Arijit reached to such a level where all were having admiration towards him” he noted.
Recalling an honest moment at the event, Shaan narrated how both he and Arijit were presented with the same award on the same night. In reference to Arijit’s humility, Shaan candidly added, “He was like, ‘Bhai, ek selfie loon?’ when I was actually thinking of asking him for a selfie!”
Thus, this honest exchange, according to Shaan, is reflective of Arijit’s grounded nature even when achieving the status of an icon in the music industry.
Shaan also spoke about Arijit’s particular working style wherein he could maintain his center while he is taking leaps around it. “Arijit has created a center for himself and simply stretches to other places without moving away from that center. It’s a great lesson to be learned,” says Shaan explaining his comfort zone preference does not limit his versatility as a singer.
Further introspection of the music industry today led Shaan to comment on the increasing application of auto-tune, which he feels is largely visible in the new songs.
“Some of the new singers are so perfect, and it’s actually a drawback for them that nowadays auto-tuning is made to be used in songs,” he noted, going to the extent of even saying some of his songs from 2006-2007 had auto-tunes to them.
