Despite treatment for seasonal conjunctivitis, his condition deteriorated, eventually requiring the removal of his eyeball to prevent the infection from reaching his brain, reported the South China Morning Post.

Doctors found that the infection had progressed to a point where medications could no longer halt it. To stop the infection from spreading to Wu’s brain, the only solution was to remove his eyeball entirely.
