‘Crisis in Manipur is due to …’: CM N Biren Singh reiterates role of ‘foreign hand’ behind violence | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday said that the recent arrest of a Burmese cadre of the Kuki National Army validates his claim that the ongoing crisis in the state is fueled by outsiders.
Lauding the Assam rifles for nabbing the Burmese national along the international border, Singh said, “I appreciate the actions of the Assam Rifles, who arrested a Burmese national. As a chief minister, I have been consistently claiming from the beginning that the current crisis in Manipur is due to outsiders, foreign hands. But some people believe, some do not.”
“But I appreciate the Assam Rifles, who arrested a foreign national with evidence of supply of weapons to militants operating in Manipur,” he added.
Meanwhile, the government has revoked the temporary suspension of internet services in the territorial jurisdiction of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts.
“The state government has decided to lift any form of internet suspension in the state of Manipur which was in good faith imposed as preventive measures in public interests,” an order issued by the home department said.
The temporary suspension of internet services in 5 districts was implemented from 3 pm on September 10 due to student protests demanding the removal of the DGP and security advisor for their alleged failure to handle militant attacks. The protests led to clashes with security forces, resulting in injuries to more than 80 individuals, including students and police personnel.
The order also urged all internet users to refrain from activities that may lead to situations warranting the suspension of internet services in the future.
