Earlier, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has requested the National Testing Agency to establish additional examination centers for the Common University Entrance Test 2024 in Barak Valley.
The Barak Valley in Assam comprises of three districts – Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. All colleges within these districts are affiliated with Assam University, situated in Silchar. However, there is currently only one CUET exam center designated in Silchar.
Pegu’s letter highlighted the challenges encountered by students who must journey to Agartala (Tripura), Shillong (Meghalaya), and Guwahati to sit for exams in subjects such as Bengali and Environmental Science (EVS).
