A week after the ABC News presidential debate, vice president Kamala Harris finally gets the good news. She now has a 6-point lead over Trump in a post-debate poll conducted by Morning Consult. The pollsters surveyed 11,022 likely US voters from September 13-15. “A majority of likely voters — including 1 in 5 Republicans — believes Harris won the debate, and performance appears to be crystalizing her national lead over the former president,” Eli Yokley, political analyst at Morning Consult, said to Axios in an emailed statement.
Morning Consult calls it a new record as support for Harris is at 51% compared to 45% for Trump.Kamala Harris’ supporters are Biden 2020 voters, liberals, women and 18 to 34 year-olds and millennials.
The post-debate bounce started to reflect after a few days of the debate as there are many factors involved in post-debate rating. Many people do not watch the debate live but follow the chatter that comes after the debate. Fox example, Taylor Swift’s announcement of endorsing Kamala Harris soon after the debate worked as a momentum for Kamala campaign. But again the news cycle of the debate was cut short because of the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump which took place within a week of the ABC News debate,
Another latest survey by one of the best pollsters in America also has good news for Kamala Harris. According to CNN, the The Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll, conducted by Selzer & Co., found Donald Trump at 47% to the vice president’s 43% – within the margin of error – in a state the former president has twice won comfortably. This poll was conducted before the second assassination attempt on Trump.
“While the Hawkeye State is unlikely to be pivotal in November, the fact that Selzer found a close race in a state Trump has dominated could signal good things for Harris, both in terms of the accuracy of polling and for her chances in next-door Wisconsin,” CNN reported.
Another recent poll by the Marquette University Law School put Harris at 52% to Trump’s 48% among likely voters. An average of recent polls from Marquette, CBS News/YouGov and CNN/SSRS has Harris up by 4 points.
