NEW DELHI: The Election Commission, on Monday, announced the upcoming election for three Rajya Sabha seats from Kerala will be scheduled for June 25, as stated by the Commission.
Binoy Viswam (CPI), Elamaram Kareem of CPI-M, and Jose K Mani, leader of Kerala Congress (M), are set to retire on July 1.
Following standard procedures, the vote counting will commence an hour after the conclusion of polling.
The notification for the elections, initiating the nomination process, will be issued on June 6.
Additionally, the Election Commission disclosed the by-election for the Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra, which became vacant after the resignation of NCP leader Praful Patel in February.
Patel resigned from the Rajya Sabha upon his re-election to the Upper House of Parliament in the same month.
Having served four years of his term in the fifth tenure, Patel participated in the Rajya Sabha elections amid facing a disqualification petition filed by the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the NCP.
The by-election to fill this vacancy in the upper house is also slated for June 25, as confirmed by the EC.
