NEW DELHI: Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah said on Friday that Israel had not achieved any of its goals by launching a war on Gaza, further warning it of expecting “surprises” from his group.
“The enemy was unable to achieve any of its goals, and this was acknowledged by the head of the entity’s National Security Council (Tzachi Hanegbi),” he said in a televised speech, reported Middle East Monitor.
Acknowledging European nations’ recognition of Palestinian state, Nasrallah said, “The recognition of the Palestinian state by a number of European countries is a great loss for the occupation.”
He further stated that this recognition “is considered one of the results of the Al-Aqsa Flood battle,” referring to the onslaught launched by Palestinian factions on Israeli military posts and settlements encircling Gaza on October 7, 2023.
“One of the results of the Al-Aqsa Flood and the steadfastness of the resistance is that today Israel is appearing before the ICC,” he said.
Criricising Israel’s resistance to follow’s ICJ’s recent orders of ceasefire, Nasrallah said, “Israel has never respected an international resolution. It launched the most violent raids on the city of Rafah after the ICJ decision.”
Earlier on Friday, the ICJ issued new provisional sanctions requiring that Israel immediately cease its offensive on Rafah, keep the Rafah Crossing open to allow aid into Gaza, and provide a report to the court within a month detailing the steps it has taken.
