GANDHINAGAR: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched an e-portal for the online sale of gifts received by the CM to help with the tradition of using the income for noble purposes like girl education by selling the gifts received during public functions and various tours.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to accelerate the Digital India campaign has been helped by Gujarat with the launch of this e-portal.Earlier, gifts were sold through public auctions at state-level gatherings and by the District Collectors through public auctions in those districts.
Now, the State Government has launched an online portal for the purpose of collecting contributions for the Girl Child Education Fund through transparent online sale of such gifts received by the Chief Minister through e-auction.
CM Mementos is an Open Auction portal of the Government of Gujarat, that enables buyers to participate in the online auction for the items on display after due registration.
People living in any corner of the country can take advantage of this portal and buy Toshakhana’s gift online through e-auction. PM Modi, as the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, deposited the gifts received by him in the Government Toshakhana, sold them and started using the proceeds for the noble purpose of girl education. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has also pushed forward this tradition of using the proceeds for girls’ education by auctioning the gifts with the idea that he is not the owner of these gifts but a trustee.
This e-auction portal has been prepared by the company NCode GNFC for the e-auction process of such gifts under Toshakhana. The portal has category-wise classification of items with photographs of gifts by NIFT. All these items are also given a detailed description in English and Gujarati.
To purchase gifts through e-auction, the buyer has to register in the e-auction portal. Then the bid has to be submitted. The recipient of the highest bid will have to make a digital payment to the Girl Child Education Fund after which the purchased item will be delivered to that person by post.
Chief Secretary Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Pankaj Joshi, M K Das; Principal Secretary of Finance Department Natarajan, Aarti Kanwar; Secretary to Chief Minister Avantika Singh and other senior officers were present at the inauguration.
