Yashasvi Jaiswal added 71 more runs to his overnight 90 on the second day of the opening Border Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth and scored his fourth century in the format, while some of the decisions by the Australian team on Sunday were criticised on air.

After completing his century with an audacious ramp shot for a six, Jaiswal’s mammoth opening stand alongside KL Rahul (77) ended when the latter was dismissed by Mitchell Starc, after India’s total in the second innings reached 201.
Jaiswal then added 74 runs for the second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal, which included a moment on the field that was slammed by Australian broadcaster and journalist Gerard Whateley.
Doing live commentary for SEN from the Optus Stadium in Perth, Whateley found Australia‘s move to bring back Marnus Labuschagne to bowl ridiculous.

“Marnus is going to bowl bouncers. That’s how the field is being set,” he said sarcastically as the part-timer got ready to bowl.
“I was going to go on record and say this is utterly ridiculous…They’re using Marnus as their enforcer. I think it’s just the height of idiocy,” he said about skipper Pat Cummins’s decision to bring back Labuschagne, who had also bowled a couple of overs late on Saturday.
“I am sure he’ll take three wickets, but this is just awful…This is not the way,” he added as his co-commentator and former India coach Ravi Shastri listened.
Jaiswal was eventually dismissed by Mitchell Marsh for 161 in the post-lunch session.
