Howrah-Mumbai Mail derails in Jharkhand after colliding with goods train near Rajkharsawan; 6 injured | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Ten coaches of Howrah-Mumbai Mail (Train number 12810) derailed near Rajkharsawan railway station in Jharkhand early Tuesday morning after colliding with a goods train.
In a statement, Indian Railways said 6 persons have been injured in the accident.
“Ten to twelve coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail derailed near Badabamboo. Six passengers were injured in the accident and provided medical aid in Badabamboo.They are now being taken to Chakradharpur for better treatment,” a senior South East Railway official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The incident occurred around 3.45 am in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, just 7 km from Rajkharsawan station, under the jurisdiction of the Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railways.
In an initial statement, the Jharkhand government confirmed that emergency response teams have been dispatched to the scene to assist with rescue and relief efforts.
