‘Huge Disappointment’: Congress MP Selja on Haryana polls results | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: After the early trends suggested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forming the government for the third time in Haryana, Congress MP Kumari Selja on Tuesday said that the result was a “huge disappointment.”
Without naming anyone, in a veiled attack Shelja, while talking with reporters, said that the result would not be business as usual.
Expressing her disappointment with the Haryana election result, Selja said, “The results are disappointing.Until morning, we were hopeful. All our workers are upset, they have worked for the last 10 years for the Congress party and when such a result comes, there is a huge disappointment. We will have to make a fresh start and think about the shortcomings. We will have to see who all are responsible for such a result…”

She also said that the high command should work out plan to help revive party in Haryana, identify those responsible for such results. “This will not be business as usual, Congress should identify those who negated efforts to bring party to power after 10 years,” she added.
In the Haryana election, the trends showed that the ruling BJP has crossed the majority mark in the Haryana assembly, while the Congress won 31 seats and leading on 5, till 5:30pm.
The intense poll campaigns by the senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could not yield the desired result for the opposition party.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raised concerns about the slow pace of updating the latest trends in the Haryana Assembly election’s vote counting on the Election Commission’s website.
The ECI, in its official response, refuted these allegations, affirming that the vote counting process is being conducted in accordance with Rule 60 of the Conduct of Election Rules. The commission stated, “With reference to your today’s Memorandum regarding the slowdown in updating the results of Haryana on the ECI Website, it is reiterated that the entire counting process in Haryana and J-K is unfolding in the presence of candidates, observers and micro-observers as per the Statutory scheme. There is nothing on record to substantiate your ill-founded allegation of the slowdown in updating of results. Your Memorandum also does not bring out any contrary facts as to the delay at any of the constituencies in Haryana or J&K”.
The ECI also pointed out that the Congress had expressed similar concerns during the 2024 General Elections, which were also dismissed. The commission emphasized that the counting process was being carried out efficiently and with full transparency. Furthermore, the ECI noted that Ramesh’s memorandum failed to provide any concrete evidence to support the claims of delays in any particular constituency.
