The debut of the new anthem is slated for the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where USA will face Canada in Dallas, Texas on June 1, 2024.
Crafted at the iconic Abbey Road Recording Studios in London, the composition merges orchestral instruments, cricket equipment, and in-game sounds to create a captivating soundscape. It evokes the anticipation before matches, the thrill of victory, and the jubilation of lifting a trophy.
This anthem celebrates the vibrant tapestry of cricket culture, offering fans an immersive experience across various platforms during ICC events.
Balfe expressed his enthusiasm for leading this landmark project, describing the anthem as an embodiment of the sport’s spirit.
“It’s been a great experience working with the ICC and composing the new anthem. It’s an anthem of unity and the goal was to echo the spirit of every boundary crossed and wicket taken in this wonderful, timeless sport,” he shared.
Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events, expressed satisfaction with the project, emphasizing its ability to match the intensity of on-field action.
“We are delighted to share this special project with the world. This new sonic brand identity has been in the works for some time and the process of getting to the final product has been as intricate as the music piece itself,” Tetley remarked.
