IIT-Bombay’s Placement Season Kicks Off with Over 45 Companies and Record-Breaking Offers – Times of India

MUMBAI: The placement season at IIT-Bombay started strong, with over 45 companies visiting the campus on day one. Notable offers included a Rs 2.2 crore package from Da Vinci Derivatives for its Amsterdam office. High-frequency trading firms and tech giants like Flipkart, Apple, and Google also made significant offers. The process saw competitive placements and pre-placement offers, with multiple rounds of interviews throughout the day.
The company reportedly offered positions to at least three students from IIT Bombay, though the final tally of offers remained unclear at the time of reporting. What is also unclear is whether Da Vinci also made offers for positions based in Mumbai and how many students will head to the Amsterdam office.
Hedge Fund Jane Street made pre-placement offers to students at IITB; its annual package last year was Rs 3.7 crore. IMC Trading also made a significant impact, visiting the campus with a Rs 1 crore package for roles in its Mumbai office and shortlisting 10 students.
High-frequency trading firms dominated day one, with Graviton, Quadeye, and WorldQuant offering domestic roles with packages exceeding Rs 90 lakh. Quadeye additionally brought offers for positions in its Hong Kong office. Students noted that most leading trading firms presented packages close to or exceeding Rs 1 crore. Computer manufacturing giant Nvidia was also among the prominent recruiters.
Tech giants Flipkart, Apple, Ola, Microsoft, and Google offered domestic profiles, while consultancy powerhouses McKinsey, Karni, and BCG joined investment management firm Blackstone in rounding out the day’s roster. In a notable trend, Tower Research and Optiver opted to recruit students through the internship route, offering competitive packages for these opportunities. By late Sunday, Qualcomm had shortlisted the largest pool of candidates_ 90 who would go through a round of interviews.
The final number of placements and details on offers are expected to emerge as the process progresses almost two hours after midnight. The day was packed with entrance tests and several rounds of interviews for companies like Sony Japan, Pine Bridge, Qualcomm, Ola, Shell, GE Aerospace, GE Vernova, Texas Instruments, Alvarez and Marsal, Honda R&D, ANZ, Procter & Gamble, Kearney all of which visited the campus in the first phase of Day one.
During the second half of Sunday, the Powai campus saw companies such as Flipkart, Meesho, NEC, DE Shaw, BlackRock, Tata Steel, Ola, Arpwood Capital, YCP Auctus, Accenture, Abacus AI, Wells Fargo, Oracle, Quantbox, Baring Equity, TSMC.
