NEW DELHI: The IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah saw fierce bidding battles for marquee players Mohammed Shami, David Miller, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Liam Livingstone, and KL Rahul.
Teams spent a staggering Rs 70.5 crore to secure these six stars from Set 2 of the marquee players category.
Punjab Kings made headlines by acquiring Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore. Chahal, a vital part of Rajasthan Royals since 2022, will now don the Punjab Kings jersey.
India’s star batter KL Rahul fetched Rs 14 crore from Delhi Capitals.Rahul, who previously played for Lucknow Super Giants from 2022 to 2024, was one of the most sought-after players in the auction.
Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj, a Royal Challengers Bangalore stalwart since 2018, was snapped up by Gujarat Titans for Rs 12.25 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad finally made their first marquee acquisition, buying veteran pacer Mohammed Shami for Rs 10 crore.
Shami, who missed IPL 2024 due to knee surgery, recently returned to competitive cricket with Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. He is also set to rejoin the Indian team for the latter stages of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Lucknow Super Giants secured South African power-hitter David Miller for Rs 7.5 crore.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore bagged the explosive Liam Livingstone, further strengthening their batting firepower.
