Karnataka mandates quota in govt contract jobs | India News
BENGALURU: Ringing in some good news for its 75,000-plus outsourced employees, Karnataka issued an order on Monday mandating reservation in govt contract jobs across all its departments, with 33% of these positions reserved for women.
This was part of Congress’s manifesto announced for the assembly polls last year. It aligns with the existing reservation policy applied to permanent govt positions.
Govt usually ropes in third-party agencies to provide personnel for Group-C and Group-D posts. The order, issued by DPAR, stipulates that the reservation policy applies to outsourced jobs lasting more than 45 days and employing over 20 people. It also says that if an employee resigns, the vacancy must be filled by a person from the same reservation category.
