Khel Khel Mein’ starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor and Pragya Jaiswal, released in cinemas on August 15. While the film got good reviews and those who saw it, were delighted to have Akshay back into his entertaining, comic avatar, it did not meet expectations at the box office. It had largely got to do with the fact that ‘Stree 2’ which clashed with it, is proving to be a huge blockbuster. The Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer is proving to be the biggest hit of 2024 so far, with a huge number of around Rs 290 crore in 8 days.
Meanwhile, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ had a opening of Rs 5 crore and the numbers kept going down over the past one week. On day 8, which is Thursday, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ made R 95 lakh according to Sacnilk and now the total collection of the film so far, in India is Rs 19.3 crores.
Khel Khel Mein Movie Review
It looks less likely that the film shows improvement over the weekend but one hopes that the Saturday and Sunday numbers are slightly higher than this. There’s also a huge difference in the number of screens in which ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’ released. While the horror comedy released in about 3500 to 4000 screens, the latter released in about 900 screens. This decision is purely made on the basis of the demand and supply rule.
There is more demand for ‘Stree 2’ hence, theatres are having more shows of that film. According to trade experts, this film would have got more numbers if it did not clash with ‘Stree 2’, as this Friday and the next Friday both are empty. So, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Vedaa’ could have chosen another week for the release, according to trade.
