Lady Gaga disappointed as ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ underperforms and receives negative reviews | – Times of India

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ was one of the much-awaited movies in Hollywood. It was not just the fans but the star cast including Lady Gaga who played Lee Quinzel, who looked forward to the movie. The 38-year-old singer left no stone unturned to promote the movie and had high hopes for the release.
However, as the movie faced fierce criticism and didn’t perform as expected, Lady Gaga reportedly is disappointed. The film hasn’t been able to make a good fortune at the box office, which perhaps has only added to the dismay.
“Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered. She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base,” revealed a source to DailyMail.com.
“Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible,” added the source.
The singer-actress put her heart and soul into the character. She worked day and night to bring her character to life. Thus, it brings her nothing but sorrow to see that the movie, which she hoped would help her get the Oscars, tanked so badly.
“She (Lady Gaga) is disappointed that Joker 2 is pretty much a bomb. She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar. She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition. She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved,” concluded the source.
Times Of India gave the movie a 3 out of 5 stars and our review of the movie states – “‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ falls short of the brilliance that defined the original. The film struggles with its identity, caught between exploring a dark love story between Arthur Fleck and Lee Quinzel and advancing its narrative. This indecision results in a disjointed experience, lacking the raw intensity and sharpness of its predecessor. The decision to incorporate musical elements feels forced, dragging the film’s already weak pacing. While Joaquin Phoenix once again shines with a captivating performance, his efforts alone cannot salvage a film that feels creatively lost and thematically diluted.”
