‘Latest fakes’: Russia rejects western media speculation over Moscow’s involvement in France railway attack – Times of India

Calling the Western media speculation over Russia‘s involvement in a series of attacks against the French railway system ‘fake’, the Kremlin said that they always tried to blame Moscow for everything.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “These are just the latest fakes – more unsubstantiated accusations.”
“The fact is that there are a lot of such low-grade media, and even respected ones, that have recently not shied away from doing anything to blame Russia for everything that is happening,” Reuters reported Peskov saying.
Meanwhile, France’s interior minister Gerald Darmanin said that France suspects members of far-left groups were behind the sabotage of the rail network.
Earlier today, in a saboteurs attack on France’s train network, the police source said that French authorities have arrested an activist belonging to an ultra-left movement at a site belonging to national rail operator SNCF, AFP reported.
The man was detained at Oissel in northern France on Sunday and had access keys to SNCF technical premises, tools and literature linked to the ultra-left, said the source, asking not to be named.
He was placed in police custody for questioning in Rouen, the main city of France’s Normandy region.
On Friday, the railway network was attacked causing travel chaos and exposing security gaps just hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
