Sinha, the sitting MP of Hazaribagh and son of former union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, has been accused of neglecting organizational duties and refraining from election campaigning since Jaiswal’s candidacy announcement. His absence during the polling in Hazaribag constituency on Monday further intensified the party’s concerns.
Addressing Sinha directly, BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu emphasized, “You did not even feel proper to exercise your right of franchise. The party’s image has been maligned due to your conduct.”
The notice, issued on Monday, requires Sinha to provide an explanation within two days, as per instructions from state BJP president and former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi. Sahu clarified that further actions would depend on Sinha’s response.
Despite attempts to reach him for comment, Sinha remained unavailable, failing to respond to calls and messages.
The unfolding drama follows Sinha’s previous request to be relieved from electoral politics. In a statement made on X, the MP expressed his desire to shift focus towards combating global climate change, highlighting his intention to continue working with the party on economic and governance issues.
Hazaribag, historically significant as the constituency represented by both Yashwant Sinha and his son Jayant Sinha, holds substantial political weight in Jharkhand. In the 2019 elections, Sinha secured victory with a margin of 4.79 lakh votes, defeating Congress’s Gopal Sahu.
Notably, Jaiswal, the candidate whose nomination sparked the recent controversy, had previously contested from the Mandu assembly seat on a JVM ticket.
