Maharashtra rain: IMD issues yellow alert in Mumbai, Thane; orange alert in Raigad, Ratnagiri | Mumbai News – Times of India



MUMBAI: The Regional Meteorological Department of Mumbai has issued a yellow warning alert for Thane and Mumbai for the next five days due to expected thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
An orange alert has also been issued for Raigad and Ratnagiri, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall of 64.65 to 115.55 mm.Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Satara are also under an orange alert for similar conditions.
According to the department, other areas, including Nasik, Jalgaon, Amravati, and Bhandara, have been issued a yellow alert. These areas can expect thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
Earlier, heavy rains in several parts of Thane prompted the Fire Brigade Department to respond to numerous rescue calls related to tree falls, hoarding collapses, wall collapses, and fires.
“On Friday, six children were found injured due to the collapse of a shed at a football ground in Thane,” officials reported.
The forecast department warns residents to be cautious due to the severe weather conditions expected in various parts of Maharashtra over the next five days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and Satara could lead to disruptions and safety concerns.
Local authorities are on high alert and are preparing for emergency responses as necessary. The public is advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
