PEOPLE caught up with the Oppenheimer star at the event, where he revealed how his wife persuaded him to join the upcoming comedic thriller. “She actually produced this one,” Damon shared about his wife, Luciana Barroso. “She was very involved, and I just trust her.”
The heist comedy, co-written by Chuck MacLean and Casey Affleck, features a notable cast including Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Alfred Molina
, and Ron Perlman. Damon expressed that his wife’s taste is as trusted as that of Casey and Ben Affleck, highlighting her significant influence on the project.
Damon noted that when people he deeply respects, like his wife and the Afflecks, strongly advocate for something, he takes it seriously. He acknowledges that everyone has creative blind spots, and when those he trusts express strong opinions, he pays close attention to their insights.
The Instigators arrives in theaters on August 2.
