After the Indian wrestling contingent was rocked by controversies in the last two days, relating to Vinesh Phogat and Antim Panghal, Aman’s bronze comes as a great news.
Aman, the U-23 world champion, was the lone Indian male wrestler to qualify for the Paris Games.
Indian wrestlers have not missed a medal at the Olympics since 2008 and Aman’s effort ensured the streak remained unbroken.
After Sushil Kumar won a bronze in Beijing (2008), Yogeshwar Dutt (2012), Sakshi Malik (2016), Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia (2021) followed him, keeping the tradition intact.
