NEW DELHI: Speaking on Jio Cinema’s recently premiered series “Dhawan Karenge,” which stars Shikhar Dhawan, Indian wicketkeeper-battler Rishabh Pant described how his mother was furious when his father, who loved cricket, gave him an expensive bat.
During the just finished Indian Premier League, Pant made a comeback to playing professional cricket. He sustained severe injuries in a terrible vehicle accident on the Delhi-Dehradun route, which rendered him incapacitated in December 2022.
“It was my father’s dream to become a cricketer, and I am glad I could fulfill it.I decided I wanted to be a cricketer when I was in the 5th grade. My dad gifted me a bat worth Rs 14,000, and my mom got super angry,” he said.
With 446 runs in 13 games at a strike rate of 155.40, including three half-centuries, Pant finished as the Delhi Capitals‘ top run scorer in the Indian Premier League 2024.
Pant could only manage to get the team to sixth place, though.
