Neena Gupta is gearing up for the release of her Malayalam web series, ‘1000 Babies‘, which will be streaming on OTT tomorrow (October 18). In a recent chat, the 65-year-old actress revealed that she is grateful for getting good work in the industry after playing small roles for a very long time. She also shared about becoming a grandmother to daughter Masaba Gupta’s baby girl recently.
In a chat with Pinkvilla, she was asked about her previous remarks regarding the challenges she faced in getting work despite her talent and years of experience. Neena expressed her joy and gratitude for finally being recognized for her talent and hard work in the industry. “I will say, thank God that finally I am getting work, good work, and not just playing small, supportive roles here and there,” she stated. The actress highlighted her extensive experience in television, mentioning that she has acted in 150 series and even created her own show, for which she received numerous awards.

At the same time, Neena discussed the longstanding bias against television actors in the film industry, where television was often regarded as a lesser platform compared to films. She recounted how actors were dismissed as “just TV actors,” highlighting the stigma surrounding their work. However, she noted a significant shift in perception with the rise of OTT platforms, which have changed the landscape of entertainment.
She further mentioned that she is set to begin filming for her most acclaimed series, ‘Panchayat Season 4‘, and will also have an international film to shoot in Canada.
While talking about her daughter, actress Masaba, and Satyadeep, who recently welcomed their baby girl, Neena mentioned that initially, they were more concerned and worried rather than emotional. She is constantly worried about Masaba’s health after postpartum. Helping her daughter with her new routine and taking care of the baby are Neena’s recent priorities.
Meanwhile, ‘1000 Babies’, directed by Najeem Koya, also features Rahman, Sanju Sivaram, Ashwin Kumar, Adil Ibrahim, and many others in key roles. It is set to be available on Disney+ Hotstar.
