The Eastern Naval Command, working with the Eastern Fleet and other supporting units, completed the rapid loading of relief supplies—including drinking water, rations, and medicines—onto an Indian naval warship set to depart from Visakhapatnam for Yangon.
This quick mobilization demonstrates the Navy’s capability to effectively address humanitarian emergencies in the region, according to Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal.
Recent flooding, triggered by Typhoon Yagi, has affected Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. The typhoon, which is the most powerful storm in Asia this year, struck over a week ago, resulting in over 170 fatalities in Vietnam and approximately 40 in Myanmar.
