NEW DELHI: At least 8 college students were hospitalised following an acid leak from a tanker in Ramapuram district of Kerala. The police informed their condition was stable.
On Friday evening, hydrochloric acid leaked from a tanker causing uneasiness and breathing problems in the students. The lorry was en route from Karnataka to Ernakulam.
The students were taken to Pariyaram Medical College and Pazhayangadi taluk hospital, PTI reported.
The leak was found at the valve on the back of the container, and the fire force quickly moved the vehicle to a safer location.
Even though a fireforce team from Payyannur and Pariyayam police promptly responded and began addressing the situation, authorities reported that they were unable to fully contain the leak.
